    Testimonials

Dr. Sarah's expertise in editing and proofreading was invaluable for my book, 'The DNA of Disaster: Catastrophe by Design.' She demonstrated exceptional attention to detail, catching subtle errors while maintaining the book's technical accuracy and narrative flow. Her understanding of complex subject matter, from engineering failures to organisational psychology, helped sharpen the manuscript's clarity. Beyond basic proofreading, Sarah provided insightful developmental feedback that strengthened the book's structure and argument progression. Her professionalism, timely communication, and collaborative approach made her a joy to work with. I particularly appreciated her ability to maintain the manuscript's voice while improving its readability. For authors seeking thorough, professional editing services, one cannot go wrong with Dr. Sarah. Thanks again, job well done

Sarah provided copyediting support when I was preparing my draft for submission to a well-known international publishing house. As English is not my first language, her contribution was essential at this stage of the publishing process. Her remarkable academic background in humanities and social sciences played a key role in the quality of the final manuscript. Throughout the process, she paid close attention to detail, improving the clarity and flow of the text while ensuring that my ideas were accurately conveyed in English, both in everyday English and in scholarly prose. I look forward to working with Sarah again in the future and would recommend her services to anyone seeking a copyeditor who has full command of the language and a strong familiarity with the Anglophone academic world.

    Frequently Asked

     Questions

Academic editing is editing tailored for academic documents that involves the use of referencing systems, style guides and careful use of a particular style of language. Editing for academic documents takes account of these factors and should exercise extreme caution with any subtle changes to sense, sentence structure and argumentation.

Copyediting is the process of perfecting the language and style of a document, working word by word and line by line through the text. While sharing similarities with proofreading, in correcting errors of syntax, grammar and spelling, copyediting  has a more macro, stylistic perspective on a text and can enhance writing style very effectively.

Proofreading is one of the final stages of checking the language of a document and checks for any errors of spelling, grammar, punctuation, typos, and general errors in a text. Generally, proofreading occurs after copyediting which is a more substantial edit of a text.

Developmental editing provides feedback on the overall structure and argument of a manuscript/text. It focuses on a more macro perspective and on issues such as narrative style, cohesion, chapter structure, overall architecture  and general readability. It can also help with smaller details such as obvious errors within the text but this is not the main focus.

Research mentorship provides one on one support through verbal or written consultation on a research project. Mentorship is a process through which the mentor provides a space for learning based on their own experience and expertise. It can be very valuable in thinking through ideas and gaining confidence in a research project.
